Presentation on Global Disaster and Crisis Management

OSU

Crisis Management by Dr. Marten Brienen, Associate Professor at Oklahoma State University, on Thursday, December 5, 2024. from Noon-1:00 p.m. New York time (Eastern Standard Time).

Dr. Brienen directs the Global Disaster and Crisis Management program in the School of Global Studies at OSU. The program currently houses 36 mostly international graduate students following an interdisciplinary curriculum of peacebuilding and global crisis management, and is looking to expand to 50 students. OSU was ranked #4 among all US colleges and universities according to Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. Jim Troxel, one of the founders of GFSC, has helped organize this presentation.

We are planning an informal conversation, beginning with participants introducing themselves, followed by Dr. Brienen talking about his field experiences and describing the SGS curriculum. Time will be left for questions and discussion. Here is a link to Dr. Brienen’s bio, which also has a link to his full CV  –  https://global.okstate.edu/globalstudies/faculty/brienen.html

Our hope is that, in addition to being introduced to an exciting academic program, this conversation can lay the foundation for future collaborations in this important field.
