Planning for Our Future GFSC in 2015-16

P1040260_webCosta Rica, 6-8 February 2015:   Ten dedicated volunteers including the current GFSC Board of Directors, came together for a dynamic two-day planning meeting. Our process tapped into our strengths, our ideas and best facilitative practices to generate a refreshed concept of what GFSC can accomplish in the future. We hope that you will be inspired to join one of these committees to bring these ideas to fruition:

GFSC Action Committees (and objectives)

  • Strengthen the Networked Community
    • More virtual meetings in English and Spanish
    • Create regional advisory groups
  • Increase Awareness of What We and Others Do
    • Introduce GFSC model and methods at facilitator conferences in Germany, India, Asia
  • Optimize Leadership & Operational Teams
    • Expand Board of Directors
    • Establish new Advisory Council
    • Appoint Regional Representatives (Europe, Asia, Latin America, North America, Australia/New Zealand, Africa)
    • Identify Committee Chairs
  • Develop at least 3 Strategic Alliances
    • SEAMEO
    • ICA-Spain (with Erasmus+ project)
    • Potential Alliances: Mexican Network of Facilitators, Facilitadores en Accion Colombia; others to be considered
  • Increase Services to Communities
    • Face-to-face workshops, virtual community of practice conversations
    • Online learning modules and virtual mentoring refreshers for GFSC-trained facilitators (ongoing and after workshops)
    • Increase number of GFSC-trained facilitators
  • Update Content, Curriculum, Materials & Techniques
    • Update web site, online library of materials,
    • Revise manuals, presentations and Leader Guides for more specific applications (before/after crises, other applications; for adults, children, facilitators) and for alternative delivery methods
    • Virtual meeting of experienced GFSC facilitators to share best practices
  • Ensure GFSC is a Financially Sustainable Organization
    • Research corporate/foundation support for disaster recovery
    • Recruit internet-savvy fundraiser
    • Request financial support from network
  • Use Technology to Make Communications and Collaborations Easier
    • Design teaching-learning techniques using questionnaires, decision tools
    • Contract a technical platform specialist developer
    • Find an Online Community Manager
